Busy Summer for Rob Roy Dancers
The Rob Roy Highland Dancers have enjoyed a very successful summer of competing at Highland Games throughout the province. The dancers always enjoy getting outdoors to compete after a long winter of events held in gyms at local schools. In addition to competing the dancers are also busy performing in shows along with the band. They were a part of the sold out Fort Henry tattoo in Kingston on July 26th.
All of our competitive dancers have been awarded prizes this summer but a few of our dancers performed exceptionally well. Finley Van de Ven won the overall trophy for her age and category in Cobourg in June. Maggie Cantarutti was the runner-up in her age group in Premier at the Glengarry Highland Games on the August long weekend. Congratulations to both of them and to all who have competed this summer.
Way to go Maggie!
In August many of our dancers are traveling to the Fergus Highland Games. They host a very large highland dancing competition which is held over two days. At the end of the month, several of our dancers will make a weekend, end of summer trek to the Ottawa area to compete at the Almonte Highland Games on the Saturday and the Arnprior competition the following day. We wish all of them the best of luck!
